signs of life
while it's still a bit brisk out, the benefit of gardening in raised beds is warm, workable soil. in the garden this afternoon, i spotted the first signs of life in the form of sprouting lettuce (see if you can spot them below).
crocuses - another indicator that spring is on it's way.
sustain (verb): to supply with food drink, and other necessities of life.
schwartzes (noun): 2 idealists, 1 pitch fork, and a whole lotta seeds.
the goal of this blog is to provide a verbal and visual account of our journey into backyard farming. we'd like to think of it as a learning lab - a tool that encourages others (in the NW and beyond) to grow their own food, play in the dirt, and live a little bit closer to the earth.
